Antique crystal ball

This is an antique glass piece. It is 3 in in diameter. About the size of an orange. This is a rather mysterious crystal ball. It is covered in I guess damaged parts like it has dents on it almost as if it was rolling around on the pavement. I've never seen that happen to glass before. If you look inside of it, there are no bubbles. Normally glass pieces will have some bubbles but there's none in here. Part of me wonders if this is quartz, but it feels more like glass. That being said, I'm not totally sure. I just picked this up at Brimfield. Another interesting part is the little stand it comes on. This is definitely old. I don't know how old but it's a unique piece. Sold as is
